Joanne Hughes

Joanne made the positive decision to move to the Cassowary Coast in 2006 after being appointed as the District Manager of Community Corrections. She has worked in State Government for over 30 years within the Community Justice sector after completing a Bachelor of Social Work Degree as an adult student. She also has a background in Nursing and enjoyed eight years at Cairns Base and Calvary Private Hospitals in the specialist areas of ED, Intensive Care and Operating Theatres. She has a strong practice on restorative justice principles and leads her staff to ensure community safety is reached in frontline service delivery. 



Outside of work, you will find Joanne outdoors as she is a keen daily cyclist, enjoys travelling (here, there, and everywhere) and believes there is nothing like a multi-day trek to set a smile of accomplishment and, for her, pure relaxation.
