Strengthening Community

Innisfail Community Support Service actively promotes community engagement and builds social connectedness and community resilience by:

  • Improving access to other services
  • Providing opportunities for positive participation in community
  • Providing opportunities to learn new skills and knowledge
  • Creating places to share stories
  • Contributing to preparation and recovery for natural disasters
  • Providing place-based community development
  • Increasing public awareness of local strengths, needs and issues
  • Building connections across local services and agencies and participating in local, regional and state networks to build an effective service system responsive to current and future community needs.

What Community Support Provides:

The Community Support Service provides a range of free assistance, neighbourhood centre programs, events and resources.

  • Information, advice and referral—assistance, resources and links to help you access the right service at the right time

  • Assistance with form filling and navigating systems

  • Social and educational groups and workshops

  • Community projects and events

  • Volunteer program—training and support for community members to volunteer for specific roles within the Centre

  • Tax Help Program—July-October

  • Publications and resources including the bi-monthly Talkabout newsletter
