Innisfail Family Support Service is a FREE voluntary service that supports families with children aged unborn to 18 years. The Family Support Service seeks to strengthen the capacity of families to meet the challenges they may face at different times.

Family Support Practitioners can assist families to:

  • Develop coping skills for dealing with difficult family issues, crisis or family transitions

  • Develop strategies to cope with stress and build resilience

  • Develop a better understanding of emotions and healthy emotional expression

  • Improve self esteem and feel more confident as a parent or care giver

  • Improve family relationships and strengthen family cohesion

  • Improve and increase positive family communication

  • Improve power imbalances in families

  • Reduce family conflict and tension

  • Develop strategies for your parenting tool box

  • Access and understand services and systems

  • Manage family routines

  • Establish healthy family roles, rules, boundaries and structure

  • Improve family connections, fun and play

  • Develop an understanding of family nutrition and budgeting

Family Support Service can provide:

General information, advice and referral

Case Management

Family Counselling

Parenting skill development through education programs (Circle of Security, Triple P & Parents Under Pressure)

The Service can be accessed through referral from government or non-government organisations, or self referral.
